The National Parents Association (NPA) has issued a strong warning to the Ministry of Health, threatening legal action over allegations that children have been vaccinated without parental consent.
Speaking on Saturday, Silas Obuhatsa, the Chairperson of the National Parents Association, said the organization is preparing to sue the Ministry of Health and demand compensation for all affected parents, terming the alleged actions a violation of parental rights and medical ethics.
According to Obuhatsa, parents have raised concerns that vaccination exercises were conducted in schools and health facilities without proper disclosure, consultation, or written consent, sparking outrage among families.“
Any vaccination carried out without the informed consent of parents is illegal and unacceptable. We are ready to go to court to ensure accountability and compensation for parents whose children were vaccinated without their approval,” Obuhatsa said.
The Association argues that while public health programs are important, they must be implemented within the law and with full respect for parental authority and informed consent, especially where minors are involved.
The warning sets the stage for a potential legal and public showdown between parents’ groups and the Ministry of Health, with the issue likely to ignite nationwide debate on children’s rights, parental consent, and public health policy.
