MYSTERY DEATH IN KILIMANI: 26-Year-Old Nairobi Lawyer Dies After Apartment Fall as Three Held for Questioning
NAIROBI, KENYA — September 2, 2026 — Police in Nairobi have launched investigations into the death of 26-year-old advocate Rachel Wangui Ndirangu, who succumbed to injuries sustained after falling from the third floor of an apartment along Dennis Pritt Road in Kilimani.
Ndirangu was attending a gathering with friends at Suite Life Apartments when the incident occurred.
According to police reports, the young lawyer was rushed to Nairobi Hospital in critical condition by three individuals after sustaining serious injuries in the fall. She later died while receiving emergency treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Detectives from Kilimani Police Station who visited the scene reportedly recovered bottles of alcoholic beverages and glass items as investigations got underway.
Three persons of interest — Victor Mwangi, Ann Mwangi and Kelvin Kamau — have been taken into custody to assist detectives establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. No charges have been indicated against them at this stage.
The circumstances leading to Ndirangu’s fall remain under investigation, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) working to establish what exactly happened before the tragedy.
Her death has sent shockwaves through Kenya’s legal fraternity.
Ndirangu was a practicing advocate at Wanjiru Kairu & Co. Advocates, where she worked alongside her sister, Loise Wanjiru Ndirangu, also an advocate of the High Court.
In a statement, Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi Branch Chairman Eric Kivuya mourned the young advocate, describing her death as a devastating loss to her family, friends, colleagues and clients.
The LSK Nairobi Branch has also appealed to advocates and clients with active matters at Wanjiru Kairu & Co. Advocates to exercise patience and understanding as the family and the firm deal with the loss and make funeral arrangements.
Police investigations remain ongoing as authorities seek to piece together the events surrounding the lawyer’s final moments.
