Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’ Urges Leaders to Reject Bribery and Intimidation Ahead of 2027 Elections

Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’ has called on political leaders across the country to embrace issue-based politics, saying the outcome of the Ol Kalou by-election offers important lessons ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking while reflecting on the by-election, the senator argued that future elections should be determined by leadership, development agendas, and the will of the people rather than financial influence, intimidation, or political coercion.
Kajwang’ said the Ol Kalou results demonstrated that voters are increasingly making independent decisions based on the performance and promises of leaders. According to him, the 2027 General Election should be a contest of ideas and service delivery rather than one driven by money, propaganda, violence, or force.
Addressing voters, the senator urged Kenyans to remain vigilant during election campaigns, encouraging them to make informed decisions at the ballot regardless of campaign incentives.
He also appealed to members of ODM and leaders associated with the broad-based political arrangement to distance themselves from voter bribery, intimidation, and confrontational politics. Kajwang’ emphasized that democratic elections should be decided through the ballot and not through coercion or misinformation.
The senator concluded by calling for peaceful, credible, and issue-driven campaigns that prioritize the interests of wananchi and strengthen Kenya’s democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.
