RUIRU SET TO HOST FIFTH LEG OF PGK EQUATOR TOUR AS GOLFERS CHASE MAGICAL KENYA OPEN AND OLYMPIC DREAMS

Ruiru Golf Club is set to host the fifth leg of the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Equator Tour from July 16 to 19, with more than 50 of the country’s top professional golfers expected to compete for vital Order of Merit points.
The tournament comes at a crucial stage of the season as players intensify their pursuit of qualification for the 2027 Magical Kenya Open and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Leading the field is Safaricom-sponsored golfer Samuel Njoroge, who tops the PGK Equator Tour Order of Merit standings with 2,377 points after delivering impressive performances across the opening four events. He is closely followed by Dismas Indiza with 1,890 points, while Greg Snow occupies third place with 1,720 points.
Other notable professionals expected to battle for top honours include Njoroge Kibugu, Mutahi Kibugu, Mohit Mediratta, David Wahu, Daniel Nduva, Edwin Mudanyi, and several other leading golfers.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Mutahi Kibugu expressed confidence in the competitiveness of the event, saying he is determined to build on his performances from the previous legs and remain consistent throughout the week.
The Ruiru tournament follows an exciting fourth leg held at Nyali Golf and Country Club, where Njoroge Kibugu claimed victory after a standout display.
Organised by the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK), the Equator Tour continues to provide Kenyan professionals with a competitive platform to sharpen their skills while earning valuable ranking points throughout the nationwide circuit.
The Tour continues to benefit from the support of Safaricom, whose investment in professional golf is creating greater opportunities for local golfers to compete, develop their talent, and raise Kenya’s profile on the international golfing stage.
With the Order of Merit race tightening, the Ruiru leg promises four days of intense competition as Kenya’s finest golfers battle for supremacy and edge closer to their international ambitions.
