The Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Abdi Ahmed Mohamud, has defended the Commission’s ongoing investigations into allegations surrounding campaign financing, insisting that the probe is being conducted professionally and without prejudice.

Responding to questions over reports involving millions of shillings allegedly used in political campaigns, Mohamud clarified that the figures being circulated publicly have not yet been established as part of the Commission’s investigations.
He emphasized that EACC cannot declare money to be fraudulent based on speculation or public claims, noting that only a thorough investigation can determine whether any funds were acquired or used illegally.

Mohamud reiterated that the Commission is committed to following evidence, respecting due process, and ensuring that any findings are based solely on verified facts. He urged the public to allow investigators to complete their work before drawing conclusions.

The EACC maintains that its mandate is to investigate corruption and economic crimes impartially, regardless of the individuals or institutions involved.
