KANU’s Billion-Shilling Empire Exposed as Audit Reveals KSh10.15 Billion in Assets Amid Transparency Questions

By News Desk

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) has emerged as one of Kenya's wealthiest political parties after a recent audit revealed that it owns assets worth more than KSh10.15 billion.

According to the audit, the party holds land valued at KSh1.95 billion and land and buildings worth approximately KSh8.2 billion, underscoring the vast wealth accumulated over the years.

However, the audit also raised concerns over financial accountability. Auditors flagged KSh212.7 million in unsupported balances, including trade payables and loans, citing a lack of adequate supporting documentation.

The findings have renewed calls for greater transparency and accountability in the financial management of political parties, particularly those with significant public influence and historical assets.
