The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Hon. Catherine Omanyo has urged Kenyans to carefully read and understand the Finance Bill 2026 before criticizing or opposing it.

Speaking during a public engagement forum, Omanyo emphasized the importance of informed debate and constructive participation in national matters, saying many Kenyans risk being misled by misinformation circulating online regarding the proposed bill.

She noted that public participation is a constitutional right and encouraged citizens to analyze the contents of the Finance Bill clause by clause in order to give meaningful views and recommendations.

“Let us first read and understand the Finance Bill before condemning it. Kenyans should engage with facts and contribute positively to the national conversation,” she stated.

Omanyo further called on leaders, youth, and civil society groups to educate the public on the proposals contained in the bill instead of spreading panic and political propaganda.

Her remarks come amid growing national debate over the Finance Bill 2026, with various political leaders, traders, and wananchi expressing mixed reactions over proposed taxes and economic reforms by the government.
