“UDA Unshaken in Mt. Kenya as Mwaura Defends Party Strength Amid Kang’ata Fallout
The Government has moved to reaffirm the strength and stability of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) following emerging political reactions linked to Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata’s stance within the party.
Speaking on the matter, Government Spokesperson Hon. Isaac Mwaura emphasized that UDA remains firmly rooted, particularly in the Mount Kenya region, citing the overwhelming participation of over 580,000 members in the party’s recent grassroots elections. He noted that such turnout is a clear indication of sustained public confidence and grassroots mobilization.
Mwaura further pointed to UDA’s recent by-election victories as proof of its continued political dominance and growing national appeal. According to him, the party is focused on building a stable, issue-based political movement that transcends election cycles and anchors long-term national development.
“UDA is not a seasonal outfit. It is a national party built on strong structures, ideology, and the will of the people,” Mwaura stated.
At the same time, the Government Spokesperson acknowledged the dynamic nature of Kenya’s political landscape, affirming that every leader has the constitutional right to associate with a political party of their choice.
“As a democracy, we respect the freedom of political affiliation. Leaders are at liberty to make their own choices, but UDA remains strong and united,” he added.
The remarks come amid heightened political realignments in the Mount Kenya region, with analysts closely watching how emerging differences may shape the region’s political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
UDA leadership has maintained that internal democracy and open engagement remain key pillars of the party’s growth, insisting that divergent views only strengthen its resolve to remain Kenya’s dominant political force.
