Senator Tom Ojienda Champions Institutional Memory and Accountable Leadership at Kisumu MCAs’ AGM

Hon. Senator Tom Ojienda on Friday joined the Pioneer Assembly of Kisumu County Members of County Assembly (MCAs) during their Annual General Meeting (AGM), a forum that brings together 48 former MCAs who represented Kisumu County’s 35 wards and various special interest groups at the foundational stage of devolution.

The meeting, also attended by his Manager Dr. Simon Peter, provided a platform for candid engagement on welfare matters, the value of institutional memory, and the critical role of experience in strengthening effective and accountable county governance.

Addressing the forum, Senator Ojienda shared insights into his ongoing oversight work, emphasizing the importance of drawing from the experiences of pioneer leaders to enhance governance structures at the county level. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the former MCAs in advancing transparent leadership and service delivery for the people of Kisumu County.The Senator further aligned his remarks with President William Samoei Ruto’s two-term clarion call, noting that accountable leadership and strong institutions remain central to sustainable development and effective devolution.

Hon. Ojienda commended the leadership of the Pioneer Assembly, particularly Chairperson Isaiah Onyango and Patron Director Samuel Ongow, for sustaining the platform and keeping it focused on purposeful engagement and collective progress.He concluded by pledging continued collaboration with the former MCAs, recognizing their contribution to the foundation of devolution and their ongoing relevance in shaping Kisumu County’s governance discourse.
