KAKAMEGA, KENYA — Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairperson Gladys Wanga has thanked residents of Kakamega for turning out in large numbers to honour the legacy of the late Raila Amolo Odinga, popularly known as Baba.
Wanga said Kakamega was among the regions that supported and celebrated Raila throughout his political life, describing the turnout as a reflection of the enduring connection between the people and the veteran opposition leader.
“We were in Kakamega, a region that supported and celebrated Baba throughout his political life. Thank you, Wa-ingo, for coming out in such large numbers! His legacy lives on,” Wanga said.
Her remarks highlighted Raila’s longstanding political relationship with the region, where his influence remained a prominent feature of Kenya’s opposition politics for decades.
The gathering forms part of activities associated with #MweziWaBaba, a campaign centred on remembering and celebrating Raila’s political journey, public service and legacy.
Wanga’s message also underscored ODM’s continued efforts to keep Raila’s memory alive through public engagements and commemorative activities across the country.
As the movement reflects on his contribution to Kenya’s political landscape, Kakamega’s turnout provided an opportunity for supporters to celebrate the history and ideals associated with the former ODM leader.
