NCIC Sounds Alarm Ahead of 2027 Polls, Calls for Early Action to Prevent Election Violence

NAKURU, KENYA — The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has called for stronger coordination, early warning systems and proactive preventive measures to avert election-related violence ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Elections.

The commission made the call during the County Multi-Sectoral Coordination and Collaboration Forum on Peace and Security, hosted by @Midrifthurinet in Nakuru on October 6, 2026.

During the engagement, the NCIC shared key messages from its Roadmap to a Violence-Free 2027 General Election, dubbed “Uchaguzi Bila Noma,” emphasising the need for responsible leadership, peaceful political engagement and collective action to safeguard national cohesion.

The commission highlighted the importance of preventing hate speech, curbing ethnic mobilisation, engaging young people constructively and closely monitoring conflict hotspots to identify and address emerging threats before they escalate into violence.

The forum brought together peace and security stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, improve information-sharing and develop practical measures to promote peaceful coexistence across Nakuru County.

As the country prepares for the 2027 polls, the NCIC’s message underscores the importance of early intervention, accountable leadership and coordinated efforts among government agencies, communities and other stakeholders in preventing election-related tensions.

Through the Uchaguzi Bila Noma roadmap, the commission is calling for a collective commitment to peaceful elections, where political competition does not undermine national unity, public safety or the democratic process.

The message is clear: preventing election violence begins long before polling day.
