Great strides continue at the Yatta Sports Academy, the first-ever sports academy of its kind in Machakos County, as key developments take shape to strengthen the nurturing of young talent and promote sports excellence in the constitue5ncy.
Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing progress, Yatta MP Hon. Robert Basil said the academy represents a long-term investment in the future of the youth, offering a structured platform to identify, train, and grow sporting talent from the grassroots level.
“Step by step, we are building a strong foundation for our young people. This academy will help unlock talent, instill discipline, and create opportunities for our youth to compete at higher levels,” said Hon. Basil.
The academy is expected to play a critical role in steering young people away from negative social vices while opening doors to careers in sports, education, and personal development. Once complete, it will serve as a hub for training, mentorship, and community engagement through sports.
Local residents and sports stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, terming it a timely and transformative project that positions Yatta as a rising center for sports development within Machakos County and beyond.The project aligns with broader efforts to empower the youth, promote healthy lifestyles, and harness sports as a tool for social and economic transformation.Yatta Ni Kazi Tu!
