GATUNDU NORTH, KIAMBU — September 29, 2026: Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Secretary-General designate Senator John Methu has called for intensified efforts to eradicate illicit alcohol, warning that the spread of illegal brews is undermining the wellbeing and development of young people.

Speaking during public rallies in Gituamba and Kamwangi towns in Gatundu North, Methu decried the effects of illicit alcohol on communities, particularly among the youth, saying the problem remains a major obstacle to social and economic development.

Methu also turned his attention to the William Ruto administration, accusing the government of failing to fully deliver on some of the promises it made to Kenyans.

According to the Senator, Kenya requires a new administration capable of addressing the country’s economic challenges and putting the economy on a stronger recovery path.

His remarks come as DCP continues to expand its grassroots activities ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Methu taking an increasingly visible role in the party’s mobilisation activities. Recent reports have identified him as the party’s Secretary-General designate and spokesperson.

Methu’s comments add to the growing political debate over the government’s record, the state of the economy and the direction Kenya should take ahead of the next General Election.
