Mbangula: Nairobi’s Biggest Problem Is Bad Leadership — Sewage and Drainage Must Be Fixe

Incoming Nairobi Governor Patrick Musili Mbangula has identified what he describes as poor leadership, inadequate sewage systems and drainage challenges as some of the major problems facing Nairobi residents.

Mbangula said the capital city has the potential to function better if its leadership prioritises basic services, proper planning and accountability.

He said that, upon taking over the leadership of Nairobi, his administration would make the improvement of sewerage and drainage infrastructure a key priority, alongside addressing other challenges affecting residents and businesses.

According to Mbangula, flooding, blocked drainage systems and inadequate sewerage infrastructure continue to affect communities across the city, creating health, environmental and economic concerns.

He said his administration would focus on practical solutions rather than allowing Nairobi’s longstanding problems to continue unresolved.

“The problem facing Nairobi is bad leadership, sewage and drainage. When I take over, I will finish these problems,” Mbangula said.

He further called for leadership that is responsive to the needs of Nairobi residents and capable of turning the city’s resources into tangible improvements in service delivery.
