Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is set to preside over the destruction of narcotics valued at approximately Sh8.2 billion at the Bamburi Cement Factory in Mombasa.

The consignment, comprising more than 1,000 kilograms of methamphetamine, was seized by Kenya’s multi-agency security team in the Indian Ocean last October as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt international drug trafficking networks.

The destruction exercise is expected to underscore the government’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and preventing illicit narcotics from reaching communities in Kenya and beyond.

Security agencies have continued to strengthen multi-agency operations aimed at intercepting illegal drugs and other forms of transnational organised crime.

The destruction of the seized narcotics marks another significant step in the enforcement of Kenya’s laws against drug trafficking and the safe disposal of confiscated illicit substances.
