The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary nightly closure of a section of Uhuru Highway (A8 Road) to facilitate scheduled highway maintenance works.
In a statement issued on, February 6, 2026, KeNHA Acting Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli informed motorists that the affected stretch — between the University of Nairobi Roundabout and Westlands Roundabout — will be closed every night from Friday, February 6, 2026, to Friday, February 13, 2026.
The closures will run daily between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) notifies the public that a section of Uhuru Highway (A8 Road) between the University of Nairobi Roundabout and Westlands Roundabout will be temporarily closed every night from Friday, February 6, 2026, to Friday, February 13, 2026, between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am. This closure is to allow for highway maintenance works on the road section,” the statement read.
KeNHA has advised motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and to observe all traffic management measures that will be put in place during the maintenance period.
Alternative RoutesThe Authority further outlined alternative routes for motorists accessing Uhuru Highway and Chiromo Road, particularly those heading towards Nakuru, to help ease traffic flow during the nightly closures.
KeNHA apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured road users that the maintenance works are part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and improve the quality of the national highway network.
