Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has inspected the ongoing redevelopment of Kihumbuini Stadium, with the facility now more than 70 percent complete.

The terraces and changing rooms have been completed, while final works on the playing turf and shades are currently underway. The stadium is expected to be ready for use in the coming months.

The redevelopment forms part of the Nairobi County Government’s broader programme to transform the city’s sporting facilities into modern, safe and quality spaces where young people can discover, develop and showcase their talents.

Kihumbuini Stadium, alongside Woodley and City Stadiums, is undergoing significant transformation as the county steps up investment in sports infrastructure.

Governor Sakaja said the investments are aimed at creating better opportunities for Nairobi’s youth while providing communities with safe spaces for sports, recreation and social development.

The county government says the continued investment in sporting facilities is part of its wider commitment to empowering young people and building a stronger future for Nairobi.
