NAIROBI, Kenya, 29 July 2026: Moringa graduated 1,761 learners across eight technology disciplines in Nairobi on Wednesday, bringing employers, education leaders and public-sector stakeholders together to celebrate the technology talent of the future.
The graduating cohort completed programmes in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, DevOps, Product Design and Data Visualisation. Together, the eight tracks represent capabilities used to build, analyse, improve and secure modern digital systems.

Mary Kerema, OGW, Secretary for ICT, E-Government and the Digital Economy, representing Chief Guest Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, CBS, Principal Secretary for the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy, said Kenya’s ambition to become a leading player in the intelligent economy would require practical, industry-connected training that equips learners to build solutions for the country’s needs.

That ambition will depend on professionals who combine technical skills with judgement, integrity and imagination. Moringa’s practical, project-based and industry-connected training model is exactly what our country must scale to prepare talent that can solve real Kenyan problems.”

The joint Graduation and Career Fair, held at The Dome at the Nairobi International Trade Fair, ASK Grounds, combined the graduation ceremony with student project demonstrations, recruiter engagement, career guidance and conversations about the capabilities required in a rapidly changing AI-driven technology world.
Nikki Germany, Chief Executive Officer of Moringa, said: “Employers increasingly need people who can do more than operate a particular tool. They need professionals who can understand a problem, make sound decisions, work with others and continue learning as technology changes. Graduation recognised the discipline and progress behind this cohort’s achievement. The Career Fair then made the next connection visible: how graduates, employers and educators can turn technical capability into productive work and long-term career development.
The event took place as Kenya advances its Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025-2030 and employers develop their AI-readiness. The challenge is no longer simply to expand access to digital skills, but to prepare people who can apply technology responsibly, communicate clearly, solve problems and adapt as tools and roles change.

Two graduate-built projects anchored the public showcase. Nairobi Floodguard, developed by Data Science learners, explored flood susceptibility and the optimisation of matatu routes in areas affected by flooding in Nairobi. TerraFold Trace, developed by Software Engineering learners, examined how technology could support traceability in agricultural produce supply chains.
The accompanying Career Fair connected graduates and alumni with employers, recruiters, mentors and technology professionals through practical challenges, expert sessions, networking and career-support activities. It also demonstrated how AI, data, software, cloud computing and cybersecurity increasingly intersect, underscoring the importance of security, ethics, privacy and resilience in digital systems.
Behind the scale of the graduating class were individual stories of persistence, career transition and personal growth.
The valedictorian, Thomas Amuti who is also a Data Science graduate said: “We began from different places and encountered different challenges, but we learned how to work through uncertainty, ask better questions and build with others. This graduation recognised how far we had come, but it also reminded us that completing a programme was not the end of learning. We now had to keep developing our skills, contribute meaningfully and demonstrate what we could do.”
