Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs, Wycliffe Oparanya, has briefed President William Samoei Ruto on the progress of the Financial Inclusion Fund (Hustler Fund), highlighting significant milestones in expanding financial access for millions of Kenyans.
According to the update, the Fund has so far disbursed KSh90 billion to 28 million borrowers through its three key products: the Personal Loan, Bridge Loan, and Hustler Groups. The Fund is currently lending approximately KSh50 million daily, demonstrating sustained demand for affordable credit.
The CS also revealed that the Fund has recorded 10 million repeat borrowers, with 4.5 million attaining A and B credit scores as a result of responsible borrowing and timely loan repayment.
In addition to expanding access to credit, the Hustler Fund has helped borrowers accumulate KSh7 billion in savings, marking a significant milestone in promoting a savings culture and strengthening financial inclusion.
The government says the continued growth of the Fund reflects its commitment to empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), supporting entrepreneurship, creating jobs, and enhancing economic resilience across the country.
