The Executive Director of the Kenya Community Support Center, Phyllis Muena, has reaffirmed the importance of protecting and promoting freedom of religion and belief across churches, schools, and communities, calling it a cornerstone of peaceful coexistence and inclusive development.
Speaking during the National Learning and Policy Dialogue Forum on Freedom of Religion and Belief, Muena emphasized that every Kenyan has the constitutional right to freely practice, change, or express their faith without fear of discrimination or persecution.
She urged policymakers, religious leaders, educators, civil society organizations, and community stakeholders to work together in strengthening religious tolerance, mutual respect, and social cohesion. Muena noted that safeguarding freedom of religion and belief is essential for promoting national unity, protecting human rights, and preventing conflicts rooted in religious intolerance.
The forum brought together key stakeholders to discuss policy reforms, share experiences, and explore practical strategies for advancing religious freedom while fostering peaceful coexistence among Kenya’s diverse religious communities.
