Gachagua Alleges Plot to Rig Ol Kalou By-Election, Warns IEBC Chair Against Interfering with the Vote

Opposition leader Rigathi Gachagua has accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson of allegedly planning to manipulate the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election in favor of President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking during a campaign rally, Gachagua claimed that from the very beginning of the by-election campaign, the IEBC Chair had shown intentions of influencing the outcome.
He urged the electoral body to remain impartial and ensure that the will of the people is respected.
Gachagua warned that if the votes cast by residents of Ol Kalou are allegedly stolen or manipulated, Kenyans would demand the immediate resignation of the IEBC Chairperson, insisting that the Commission must uphold transparency, credibility, and public confidence in the electoral process.
He called on voters to turn out in large numbers and challenged election observers, security agencies, and civil society organizations to closely monitor the by-election to safeguard its integrity.
The IEBC has consistently maintained that it is an independent constitutional commission committed to conducting free, fair, transparent, and credible elections in accordance with the Constitution and electoral laws.
The Ol Kalou by-election is expected to be a closely watched contest, with both the ruling UDA party and opposition candidates seeking to secure victory.
