Students Must Trust Themselves and Restore Confidence in Public Service, KSG Centennial Forum Told
Speakers at the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Kenya School of Government (KSG) on public service excellence have called for renewed efforts to rebuild public confidence in government institutions by nurturing self-belief, integrity, and ethical leadership among young people.
Addressing participants during the centennial forum, speakers observed that many students today have greater confidence in their own abilities than they do in public institutions. They emphasized that this presents both a challenge and an opportunity to transform the public service into a trusted, efficient, and citizen-focused institution.
The forum stressed that restoring trust in public service requires leaders who uphold accountability, transparency, professionalism, and excellence. Participants noted that when young people see integrity and effective service delivery in government, they are more likely to develop confidence in public institutions and consider careers in public service.
The Kenya School of Government’s 100-year milestone was celebrated as an opportunity to reflect on a century of developing competent public servants while reaffirming its commitment to preparing future leaders who will serve with integrity, innovation, and a strong sense of national duty.
The discussions concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among government institutions, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to cultivate a new generation of public servants who inspire trust and deliver quality services to all Kenyans.
