Damaris Maweu Rallies Women Empowerment Drive in Makueni Grassroots Support

Hon. Damaris Maweu joined residents of Makueni County for a day of worship, community service, and women’s empowerment, reaffirming her commitment to uplifting families and promoting inclusive socio-economic development at the grassroots.
The day began with a church worship service in Mbuvo, followed by a successful church bus fundraising initiative that brought together leaders, congregants, and members of the local community in support of the church's development agenda.


Later, Hon. Maweu attended the Women Empowerment Programme held at Malivani AIC Primary School Grounds in Nziu Ward, Wote, hosted by Hon. Fred Muteti. The event was graced by Sir Farouk Kibet as the Chief Guest and focused on strengthening women’s economic participation, expanding opportunities for self-reliance, and improving household livelihoods.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Maweu emphasized that empowering women remains a key pillar in accelerating community development and advancing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. She noted that investing in women creates stronger families, vibrant local economies, and sustainable growth across the county.

The event attracted several leaders, including PS Teresia Mbaika, Hon. Mwengi Mutuse, Hon. John Bwire, Hon. Japheth Nyakundi, Hon. Regina Ndambuki, Hon. Kisoi Munyao, Hon. Caro Nzilani, alongside hundreds of residents who turned up to support the initiative.

Hon. Maweu expressed her gratitude to all leaders, organizers, and residents for their participation, describing the programme as a testament to the power of unity in driving meaningful change and empowering communities.
