Interior Principal Secretary has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling alcoholism within the Security sector, assuring newly appointed Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) that officers struggling with alcohol addiction will receive the necessary support while maintaining accountability.
Speaking during the official opening of the induction training for newly appointed Deputy County Commissioners at the in Lower Kabete, Nairobi, the PS urged the administrators to report cases of alcohol cases affecting officers both at work and within their families.
He emphasized that the government is implementing measures to support affected officers through appropriate interventions while ensuring that public service standards and discipline are upheld.
The induction programme marks a significant milestone in strengthening the capacity of National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) through continuous professional development and structured career progression.
PS Omollo underscored the critical role played by Deputy County Commissioners and NGAOs in advancing national development priorities, maintaining law and order, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and ensuring that government programmes and essential services reach citizens efficiently and effectively.
He challenged the newly appointed officers to uphold integrity, professionalism, and accountability as they take up their leadership responsibilities across the country, noting that their commitment will be vital in improving service delivery and strengthening public confidence in government institutions.
