Ecomobilus Technologies, a Kenyan innovation company established in 2022, has unveiled its ambitious vision to transform transportation and agricultural logistics through affordable electric mobility and clean energy solutions.
Speaking during the World MSME Day 2026 celebrations at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Prof. Geoffrey Gitau said the company’s technologies are creating new economic opportunities for young entrepreneurs and farmers by providing affordable, efficient and sustainable transport solutions.
Prof. Gitau revealed that Ecomobilus Technologies plans to significantly expand its mobility and energy innovations over the next five years, helping thousands of Kenyans access cleaner transport while lowering the cost of moving goods.
Among the company’s flagship innovations is the eMkoko—a four-wheeled electric cargo vehicle capable of transporting goods worth up to KSh7,000 in a single trip. The vehicle offers greater stability and carrying capacity than conventional motorcycles, making it an ideal solution for farmers transporting produce to markets and small businesses delivering goods.
Founded in 2022, Ecomobilus Technologies is pioneering sustainable urban mobility by manufacturing electric motorcycles, electric tuk-tuks, electric bicycles and eMkoko cargo carriers, while also retrofitting petrol-powered motorcycles into electric vehicles.
The company is also working closely with the University of Nairobi, strengthening the partnership between academia and industry. The collaboration equips graduates with practical technical skills, promotes innovation-driven research and accelerates the development of sustainable mobility solutions that contribute to Kenya’s economic growth and environmental conservation.
Prof. Gitau emphasized that locally developed innovations have the potential to revolutionize transport, empower youth-led enterprises, improve farmers’ access to markets and position Kenya as a regional leader in clean mobility technologies.
