President William Ruto has launched a sharp response to Gideon Moi, accusing him of using media platforms to advance what he described as a campaign of extortion and blackmail against his administration.
In a statement shared on his X page, President Ruto defended his government’s development agenda, insisting that no amount of pressure or negative publicity would derail the country’s transformation plans.
“The five-day extortion and blackmail campaign against my government’s agenda through your newspaper will not distract us from serving Kenyans. This Kenya is for all of us,” the President stated.
Ruto maintained that his administration remains focused on delivering economic reforms, infrastructure projects, job creation initiatives and improving the livelihoods of ordinary citizens across the country.
The President’s remarks are seen as a direct response to criticism published in the Standard Newspaper, which is associated with the Moi family. He argued that national development should not be held hostage by individual or political interests.
Political observers say the latest exchange signals escalating tensions between the Kenya Kwanza administration and some of its critics as the country heads toward an increasingly competitive political environment.
Despite the criticism, President Ruto reiterated that his government would remain committed to its development agenda and would continue engaging all Kenyans regardless of political affiliation.
“Kenya belongs to all of us, and our focus remains on building a stronger, more prosperous nation for every citizen,” he said.
