TAAG Angola Airlines has received authorization from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to operate its newly acquired Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on commercial services within European airspace, marking a significant achievement in the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization program.
The approval follows EASA’s standard certification and technical oversight procedures for airlines operating flights to destinations within the European Union. The authorization allows TAAG to integrate the state-of-the-art aircraft into its European network, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and enhanced customer experience.
In the initial phase of deployment, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will operate on the Luanda–Lisbon–Luanda route, one of TAAG’s most important international connections and a strategic gateway between Angola and Europe. The addition of the Dreamliner is expected to offer passengers greater comfort, improved fuel efficiency, and a modern travel experience while strengthening the airline’s competitiveness on the route.
TAAG Chairman Clóvis Rosa welcomed the approval, describing it as a reflection of the airline’s continuous efforts to elevate operational standards and align with global aviation best practices.
“The authorization from EASA represents another important milestone in our transformation journey. It demonstrates the confidence international regulators have in our operations and underscores our commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and world-class services to our passengers,” he said.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner forms a key part of TAAG’s strategy to modernize its fleet, improve sustainability through lower fuel consumption, and expand its international footprint.
