Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has once again ignited political debate after holding a meeting with Principal Secretary for Higher Education Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, just days after being seen with Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Wycliffe Oparanya.
Sharing details of the meeting, Malala described Dr. Inyangala as his 2022 gubernatorial running mate and reaffirmed their commitment to transforming Kakamega County through unity, development, and improved service delivery.
“The people of Kakamega deserve quality services, inclusive development, and leadership that listens, serves, and delivers,” Malala stated.
He further emphasized that their shared vision remains focused on freeing residents from poverty, violence, and disunity while pursuing prosperity and dignity for all.
The meeting has nevertheless sparked fresh political speculation, with observers questioning whether the former UDA Secretary-General is gradually warming up to President William Ruto’s administration following his recent engagements with senior government officials.While Malala has not publicly indicated any intention to rejoin the government, his repeated interactions with key figures in the Kenya Kwanza administration have fueled discussions about a possible political realignment ahead of future elections.
His closing message, “Scatter none; gather all,” has particularly attracted attention, with some interpreting it as a call for unity beyond party lines and a signal of a broader political strategy in Western Kenya.
Whether these meetings are purely developmental engagements or the beginning of a new political chapter remains a question that continues to generate debate.
