EAK Condemns Goonism, Political Violence and Misuse of Churches, Calls for Accountability and Economic Prudence
The Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK) has issued a strong condemnation of the growing cases of goonism, political violence, intimidation, and destruction of property across the country. Speaking during its Annual General Meeting, the alliance warned that politicians will no longer be given special treatment in churches and will be treated like ordinary members of the congregation.
EAK expressed concern over the increasing use of criminal gangs to disrupt lawful activities, stating that such actions undermine democracy, weaken public confidence in institutions, and threaten national stability. The alliance called on security agencies to act decisively against perpetrators regardless of their political affiliations.
The church body also challenged the government to exercise greater accountability in the management of public resources, reduce wasteful spending, intensify the fight against corruption, and implement economic interventions that support struggling households, youth employment, agriculture, and small businesses.
In addition, EAK urged the government to accelerate education reforms and ensure timely funding for government-sponsored students while maintaining equitable access to quality education for all Kenyan children.
