The Nairobi Hospital has issued a strongly worded response to a Daily Nation article titled “Doctors Sound Alarm Over Nairobi Hospital’s Deepening Crisis,” dismissing the report as inaccurate, misleading, and damaging to the institution’s reputation.
In a statement released by Board Chairman Dr. Barclay Onyambu, the hospital clarified that the concerns highlighted in the publication stemmed from a requisition submitted by a single member of the Admitting Staff Association (ASA), and not from the broader medical fraternity within the hospital.
The hospital faulted the publication for portraying the concerns as representative of doctors generally, arguing that such a characterization creates a false impression that the institution’s entire medical leadership had raised alarm over its operations.
“The views referenced do not represent the position of The Nairobi Hospital staff, nor do they constitute the position of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC),” the statement emphasized.
According to the hospital, governance concerns raised through established internal channels should not be misconstrued as evidence of institutional instability. Management maintained that the facility remains fully operational, with clinical services running uninterrupted and governance-strengthening initiatives progressing as planned.
The hospital further defended its track record, citing more than seventy years of service and trust earned from patients, healthcare professionals, partners, and stakeholders.
“We reject attempts to conflate individual views with institutional positions or to portray ongoing governance processes as evidence of institutional instability,” the statement noted.
The Nairobi Hospital also warned against the publication and dissemination of what it termed false, misleading, or defamatory information, signaling that it is prepared to pursue legal remedies where necessary to protect its reputation and commercial interests.
The response comes amid heightened public debate sparked by the Daily Nation report, with the hospital urging the media and the public to rely on accurate, balanced, and properly contextualized reporting when assessing matters affecting critical healthcare institutions.
As the dispute unfolds, the hospital insists that patient care, operational excellence, and sound governance remain its top priorities.
