Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has come under intense scrutiny following concerns raised in a report by the Office of the Auditor-General (Kenya) highlighting alleged financial irregularities amounting to over KSh 700 million

Appearing before the Senate of Kenya Public Accounts Committee, the Governor was pressed to explain the utilization of the flagged funds, with senators seeking clarity on expenditure breakdowns, procurement processes, and project implementation timelines.

The committee emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in county expenditures, noting that audit queries must be addressed comprehensively to ensure proper use of public resources.

Governor Wanga maintained that her administration is committed to financial discipline and promised to submit the required documentation to clear the raised concerns.

The Senate committee is expected to continue reviewing the audit report before issuing final recommendations.
