First Lady Her Excellency Rachel Ruto has underscored the importance of early diagnosis and timely medical intervention in improving child health outcomes, following a visit to Revvity during the ongoing State Visit to Finland.
Speaking after touring the healthcare technology company, the First Lady noted that advancements in newborn screening and diagnostic technologies have the potential to transform maternal and child healthcare by identifying serious health conditions shortly after birth and enabling prompt treatment.
“Early diagnosis can make the difference between a lifetime of health challenges and a healthy start to life. The innovations we have witnessed today demonstrate how technology can help save lives, reduce the burden of disease, and give every child the best possible start in life,” said Rachel Ruto.
The visit provided valuable insights into cutting-edge healthcare solutions that support early detection of congenital and genetic conditions, helping healthcare providers intervene before complications arise. Such approaches have significantly improved child survival rates and long-term health outcomes in many countries.
The First Lady emphasized that strengthening early detection systems remains a critical component of building healthier families and communities. She noted that lessons learned from Finland’s healthcare innovations would contribute to Kenya’s ongoing efforts to improve maternal and child health services.
Rachel Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to embracing innovation and partnerships that enhance healthcare delivery, particularly for mothers and newborns, as the country works towards achieving better health outcomes for all.
The visit forms part of the broader State Visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between Kenya and Finland in areas including healthcare, education, technology, and sustainable development.
