Hon. today appeared before the to deliberate on the proposed measures aimed at reducing fuel prices and easing the cost of living for Kenyans.

During the engagement, Hon. Nyoro emphasized the need for urgent fiscal adjustments to accommodate the proposed fuel price relief package without destabilizing the national budget. He underscored that achieving sustainable relief requires a deliberate reallocation of public resources toward priority areas that directly impact citizens’ welfare.

Key among the proposals discussed was the rationalization of government expenditure, including significant reductions in foreign travel budgets across all arms of government, as well as cuts in non-essential and non-priority spending areas.

Hon. Nyoro noted that efficiency in public spending remains critical, stressing that every shilling saved from wastage and non-critical expenditure should be redirected to interventions that stabilize fuel prices and reduce pressure on households and businesses.

The discussions with the committee highlighted a shared recognition of the need for fiscal discipline, accountability, and prudent resource allocation in the face of prevailing economic challenges.

The matter will continue to undergo further parliamentary consideration as stakeholders refine the proposed adjustments to ensure both economic stability and relief for citizens.
