National Assembly of Kenya RECONSTITUTES KEY COMMITTEES IN MAJOR REALIGNMENT TO ACCOMMODATE NEW MPS

The National Assembly of Kenya has officially reconstituted several of its parliamentary committees following approvals by the Committee on Selection, in line with Standing Order 175 of the National Assembly Standing Orders.

Standing Order 175 empowers the Committee on Selection to nominate Members of Parliament to various committees and present the proposed changes for approval by the House.


The latest reconstitution is aimed at realigning committee membership structures and integrating newly elected Members of Parliament who recently joined the 13th Parliament following successful by-election victories across the country.

Committee Adjustments
In the Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education, Mohamed Tubi joins the committee replacing Joseph Kosgei Tonui, while Dick Maungu Oyugi takes over from Jack Wanami Wamboka CBS.
The Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity sees Jack Wanami Wamboka CBS appointed to replace Dick Maungu Oyugi.

In the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee, Teresia Wanjiru Mwangi replaces John Gitonga Mukunji, while newly elected Emurua Dikirr MP David Kipsang Keter replaces Bernard Kibor Kitur.

The Committee on Members’ Services and Facilities records further changes with John Gitonga Mukunji replacing Teresia Wanjiru Mwangi.

In the Special Funds Accounts Committee, John Waluke Koyi CBS takes over from Mary Emaase Otucho.
Departmental Committee Changes
The Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning sees Gathoni Wamuchomba HSC appointed to replace Betty Njeri Maina.
In Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works, Joseph Kipkosgei Tonui is appointed following the vacancy created after the untimely death of former committee chair Johana Ng’eno.

The Departmental Committee on Regional Development welcomes Emurua Dikirr MP David Kipsang Keter, replacing Gathoni Wamuchomba HSC.

Meanwhile, the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure appoints Betty Njeri Maina following a vacancy occasioned by the passing of Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho.

The Departmental Committee on Communication, Information and Innovation sees Mohamed Tubi replace Joseph Kipkosgei Tonui.
In the Education Committee, Harrison Garama Kombe replaces Dick Maungu Oyugi.
