Ruto Unveils Justice Njoki Ndung’u for ICC Judge Bid in Global Justice Push

President has officially unveiled Honourable Justice as Kenya’s candidate for election as Judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the 2027–2036 term.
Speaking at State House Nairobi, President Ruto described Justice Njoki Ndung’u as a distinguished legal mind whose extensive service in Kenya’s Parliament, the Pan-African Parliament and the United Nations has positioned her at the center of criminal justice, human rights and international law.
The President praised her for demonstrating legal brilliance, intellectual independence, courage in decision-making and unwavering commitment to justice and accountability throughout her judicial and legislative career.
According to President Ruto, Justice Njoki Ndung’u brings together judicial authority, integrity, legislative impact and global experience — qualities he said align with the demands of the ICC in its mission to fight impunity and uphold international justice.
The launch of her bid signals Kenya’s renewed push for greater influence in global legal and diplomatic institutions, with the government expressing confidence in her ability to represent both Kenya and Africa on the international stage.
