East Africa Ready to Shine as Kenya Intensifies AFCON 2027 Preparations

Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to successfully hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside Uganda and Tanzania as preparations for the historic continental tournament gather momentum across the region.
Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi joined Patrice Motsepe and members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee during a high-level meeting where the three East African nations, under the Pamoja bid, reiterated their readiness to stage a world-class football spectacle.
The meeting underscored the region’s united vision of delivering a tournament that will not only celebrate African football excellence but also elevate East Africa’s global profile through improved infrastructure, tourism, investment opportunities, and regional integration.
Kenya highlighted ongoing developments in key sporting infrastructure projects, including the construction of Talanta Sports City and the continued upgrading of the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, which are expected to play a central role during the tournament.
Speaking during the engagement, leaders emphasized that AFCON 2027 presents a transformative opportunity for East Africa to showcase its hospitality, cultural diversity, and growing capacity to host major international sporting events.
The Pamoja partnership between Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania has continued to receive praise for demonstrating regional unity and collaboration in preparations for what is expected to become one of the most memorable AFCON tournaments in history.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe commended the progress made by the host nations and expressed confidence in the region’s ability to deliver a successful competition that will inspire millions of football fans across Africa and beyond.
