Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura today held a consultative meeting with Gloria Wawira, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Council (NYC), to deliberate on the Council’s mandate, strategic pillars, and its critical role in advancing youth empowerment under the government’s development agenda.

The meeting emphasized the importance of aligning youth-focused initiatives with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA Plan), a flagship framework under President William Ruto’s administration aimed at expanding economic opportunities across key sectors.

Speaking during the engagement, Ms. Wawira reaffirmed that the National Youth Council serves as a vital bridge between the government and the youth, facilitating inclusion, participation, and access to opportunities. She noted that the Council is committed to creating sustainable pathways for young people to actively engage in governance and decision-making processes.

“The core mandate of the National Youth Council is to create opportunities for young people and ensure their voices are heard in shaping national development. We are focused on empowering youth to be part and parcel of decision-making processes while connecting them to emerging opportunities,” she stated.

The discussions were further highlighted during the ongoing Sema Na Spox platform, a government-led initiative that seeks to promote awareness and public engagement on the BETA Plan. The platform continues to play a key role in disseminating information and mobilizing youth participation in government programs.

Hon. Mwaura encouraged young people across the country to leverage platforms such as Sema Na Spox and align themselves with the BETA Plan to fully benefit from government initiatives designed to uplift livelihoods and foster economic growth.

The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that youth remain central to national development, with structured programs and policies aimed at unlocking their potential and driving inclusive growth.
