UDA Issues Nomination Certificates Ahead of By-Elections, Calls Out Media Over Ethics
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially issued nomination certificates to its candidates ahead of the upcoming by-elections scheduled for the 14th, in a show of confidence and political readiness.
Speaking during the exercise, UDA Secretary General, Senator Hassan Omar Hassan, affirmed the Party’s commitment to securing victory, while also taking a swipe at sections of the media—specifically the Standard Newspaper—accusing it of falling short of ethical reporting standards.
“The media must uphold professionalism, fairness, and accuracy in reporting. Misleading narratives undermine democracy and misinform the public,” said Sen. Hassan.
The Party unveiled its candidates for the by-elections, including:
- Hon. David Kipsang Keter – Emurua Dikirr Parliamentary Seat
- Hon. Daniel Lolngojine – Poro Ward, Samburu County
- Hon. Festus Korir Kirop – Endo Ward, Elgeyo-Marakwet County
Sen. Hassan reiterated UDA’s unwavering support for the candidates, expressing confidence in their leadership and ability to deliver decisive wins. He emphasized that the Party is focused on building on the momentum from its strong performance in the recently concluded by-elections.
The Chairperson of the National Elections Board (NEB), Anthony Mwaura, reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and verifiable internal processes, enhanced through the use of technology.
The event was attended by several senior Party officials, including Uasin Gishu Senator Hon. Jackson Mandago, UDA Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, Deputy Executive Director Higgins Mbugua, Director of Women Affairs Margaret Ndanyi, Director of Membership Grace Gicovi, Director of Communication Nathaniel Mong’are, alongside members of the National Elections Board and other Party representatives.
UDA continues to position itself as a formidable political force, signaling a high-stakes contest as the by-election date draws closer.
