Leaders Condemn Gikomba Demolitions, Demand Justice for Traders.

Today, strong condemnation has been issued following the controversial demolition of traders’ premises at Gikomba Market, in what is being termed as a blatant disregard for the rule of law and the rights of ordinary Kenyans.

Standing in solidarity with the affected traders, it was emphasized that these men and women represent the backbone of Kenya’s informal economy—waking up before dawn each day to मेहनत and provide for their families while sustaining local commerce.

Reports indicate that despite securing valid court orders intended to protect their businesses, the traders’ structures were still brought down.

This action has raised serious concerns over the respect for judicial authority and the protection of citizens’ rights.

“This is not just a violation of the law; it is a violation of dignity, trust, and justice,” the statement read.
The incident has sparked outrage, with calls for immediate accountability from those responsible.

Questions are now being raised about the enforcement of court decisions and whether due process is being selectively applied.

“We cannot build a fair and just society if the rule of law is ignored—especially when it is the ordinary citizen who suffers most,” the statement continued.

There are growing demands for:
Full accountability over the demolitions.

Immediate respect and enforcement of court orders.

Protection of small-scale traders and their livelihoods.

The statement concluded with a strong message of unity and resistance:

“The struggle of Gikomba traders is a struggle for justice. Their resilience is an inspiration to all. We will not be silent.”
