Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, has cautioned the government against interfering with or taking over the NIKO NA KADI initiative, a movement he says was organically developed by Gen Z to drive civic engagement and voter registration.

Speaking while addressing comrades in Nairobi, Nyoro emphasized that the initiative belongs to the youth and should not be politicized or manipulated for political gain.

He warned that any attempt by the government to “steal” or disrupt the idea risks undermining the trust and momentum built by young people across the country.

Nyoro further urged the youth not to lose hope, calling on them to remain resilient and continue pushing for change.

“The NIKO NA KADI idea is a powerful tool created by Gen Z. It must remain in their hands. Do not give up—stand up and be counted in shaping the future of this nation,” he stated.

The MP’s remarks come amid growing political interest in youth-driven movements ahead of the 2027 general elections, with leaders increasingly seeking to align themselves with Gen Z-led initiatives focused on voter mobilization and accountability.

Nyoro’s sentiments add to the ongoing debate about the independence of youth-led campaigns and the role of political actors in influencing grassroots movements.
