By Jeff Kizzilah

As the launch date approaches, Kenya Railways Managing Director Mr. Philip Mainga confirmed that all preparations are in full swing for the Naivasha-Kisumu-Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project.
Today, Mr. Mainga led a multi-agency inspection tour of the railway corridor in Narok County, joined by Kabale Tache, Chief Executive Officer of the National Lands Commission, and Narok Deputy County Commissioner Kennedy Mwangome.

The team reviewed key sections of the corridor and discussed critical milestones, coordination frameworks, and institutional readiness needed for the smooth rollout of the project.
Officials emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among all agencies throughout the project’s lifespan.
The extension of the SGR line from Naivasha to Malaba is a significant step in strengthening Kenya’s transport infrastructure and enhancing regional integration, connecting communities, businesses, and trade hubs across the country.
Mr. Mainga stated, “We are committed to ensuring that the launch and construction phases of this transformative project proceed efficiently, safely, and in full coordination with all stakeholders.”
