Speaking ahead of the landmark event, the President confirmed that he will ring the opening bell at the Nairobi Securities Exchange at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow to officially mark the completion of the Kenya Pipeline Company Initial Public Offering (IPO). The move is expected to raise KSh 106 billion, which will serve as the seed capital for the newly established National Infrastructure Fund.
According to President Ruto, the initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to mobilize domestic capital to finance large-scale infrastructure projects without over-relying on external borrowing. The National Infrastructure Fund is expected to channel investments into key sectors such as roads, energy, logistics, and strategic national projects aimed at accelerating economic growth.
The privatization of Kenya Pipeline Company through the IPO is being positioned as a historic opportunity for Kenyans and institutional investors to participate in the ownership and financing of critical national infrastructure.

However, the announcement has already sparked intense debate across the country, with supporters arguing that the move will unlock billions for development while critics question whether strategic national assets should be partially privatized.
The government maintains that the approach will enhance efficiency, transparency, and public participation in national development while strengthening Kenya’s capital markets.

As the NSE bell rings tomorrow morning, the country will be watching closely as Kenya takes what could be one of the largest capital market moves in its history.
