GATHONI WAMUCHOMBA DUMPS UDA: GITHUNGURI MP VOWS TO FIGHT FOR THIRD TERM ON NEW PARTY TICKET
NAIROBI, KENYA | OCTOBER 8, 2026
Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has announced her departure from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), declaring that she will defend her parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election using a different political party.
Speaking during a press conference at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, Wamuchomba said she will not seek re-election on a UDA ticket and will instead rely on the guidance of her constituents before deciding on her next political vehicle.
“I am not going to align myself with the UDA government. I am not going to align myself with the political party UDA. I am going to make sure that I defend my seat using another political outfit that my people will guide me towards,” she said.
The MP did not disclose the name of the party she intends to use, saying she will first consult the people of Githunguri before making the decision public.
Wamuchomba said her decision followed concerns she has raised over what she described as discrimination, selective application of justice and political statements targeting communities. She also questioned the government’s response to such issues.
“I am going to defend my seat for the third term, but I am not going to use UDA party,” she stated.
The announcement marks another shift in Wamuchomba’s political journey ahead of the 2027 elections, with the Githunguri MP now expected to consult her grassroots supporters before revealing her next political home.
