POLICE MOVE TO BLOCK DCP RALLY— TENSION RISES IN NAIROBI CBD

Tension has been reported in Nairobi CBD as a heavy police presence was witnessed during a rally by the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) today.

DCP Secretary-General John Methu claimed that the deployment was linked to an alleged intention by police to stop the party’s rally.

The heavy security presence has sparked questions over whether authorities intend to disrupt the political gathering, with party officials expressing concern over what they described as possible interference with their activities.

The situation comes amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, placing renewed focus on the balance between public order and the right to peaceful political assembly.
