NJOROGE EYES SIGONA GLORY AS PGK EQUATOR TOUR HEATS UP
Safaricom-backed golfer leads Order of Merit as seventh leg heads to Sigona Golf Club
The race for supremacy in Kenya’s professional golf circuit is intensifying as the PGK Equator Tour enters its seventh leg at Sigona Golf Club in Kiambu County.
The tournament, running from Thursday, 27 August to Sunday, 30 August 2026, is expected to attract 47 professional golfers, all battling for valuable points as they seek to improve their standings and strengthen their qualification prospects for the 2027 Magical Kenya Open and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The par-72 Sigona course welcomes the professionals barely two weeks after a thrilling sixth leg in Nakuru, where Safaricom-sponsored Samuel Njoroge emerged victorious after posting a winning score of 280.
Njoroge heads into the Sigona leg in impressive form and remains firmly at the top of the Order of Merit with 3,852 points.
He is followed by Dismas Indiza on 2,890 points, while Greg Snow sits third with 2,540 points. Fellow Safaricom-backed golfer Mohit Meduratta is fourth with 2,430 points, with David Wakhu completing the top five on 2,110 points.
Njoroge is determined to go one better at Sigona after narrowly missing out on victory at the course last year.
“I remember last year here at Sigona; it was a tight race, and I lost to Kibugu on the final hole. This time around, I want to make sure I take it home and maintain the winning momentum after Nakuru,” said Njoroge.
He acknowledged the growing pressure that comes with leading the Order of Merit, but said he remains confident about his form and ambitions for the season.
The PGK Equator Tour, organised by the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK), continues to offer Kenya’s top professional golfers a competitive season-long platform to showcase their talent while accumulating crucial points across courses around the country.
With the competition for the top positions tightening, all eyes will now be on Sigona as Njoroge seeks to extend his lead and strengthen his bid for further success on the road to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
