ARSO General Assembly Opens in Mombasa as Kindiki Leads Regional Standards Push

The official opening of the 32nd African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) General Assembly is underway in Mombasa City, bringing together key stakeholders from across Africa to deliberate on standards, quality infrastructure and the continent’s trade and economic development agenda.

The high-level assembly is being led by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who is expected to highlight Kenya’s commitment to strengthening African standards and removing barriers to intra-African trade.

The gathering provides a platform for African countries and standards bodies to exchange ideas, strengthen cooperation and advance harmonised standards that can enhance the competitiveness of African products in regional and international markets.

The 32nd ARSO General Assembly comes at a time when African economies are seeking to deepen AfCFTA-driven trade, improve product quality and expand opportunities for local manufacturers and businesses.

The Mombasa meeting is therefore expected to shape important conversations on how stronger standards can support African industrialisation, consumer protection, innovation and sustainable economic growth.
