Murgor to Young Lawyers: Don’t Chase Quick Riches Through AI—Build Your Practice on Skill and Integrity

Senior Counsel Philip Murgor has called on young lawyers to resist the temptation of pursuing quick riches through artificial intelligence (AI) shortcuts, urging them instead to build sustainable legal careers grounded in professional competence, ethics and integrity.

Speaking during the ongoing Law Society of Kenya (LSK) event at the Coast, Murgor cautioned young advocates against over-reliance on AI tactics as a substitute for proper legal training, research and professional judgment.

He encouraged young lawyers to embrace technology as a tool to enhance their practice while maintaining the human judgment, accountability and ethical standards required of members of the legal profession.

Murgor also called for greater attention to mental health and wellbeing among lawyers, urging the profession to develop stronger practices that support advocates facing the pressures and demands of legal practice.

He emphasized the importance of creating a legal profession where young advocates can succeed without compromising their values or sacrificing their mental wellbeing in pursuit of financial success.
