President William Ruto has proposed a series of reforms aimed at improving the welfare, professionalism, and recognition of private security personnel across Kenya.
Speaking during a meeting with private security officers, the President emphasized the critical role the sector plays in safeguarding lives, property, and supporting national security. He noted that the government is committed to creating a more dignified and structured working environment for the industry’s workforce.
Among the key measures recommended are the strict enforcement of the minimum wage for private security officers, enhanced training and clear career progression pathways, stronger collaboration between the private security sector and the National Police Service, and the formal recognition of personnel as private security officers.
President Ruto said the proposed reforms are intended to professionalize the industry, improve service delivery, and ensure that security officers receive the respect, protection, and opportunities they deserve.
The reforms are expected to strengthen the partnership between the government and private security providers while enhancing public safety and improving working conditions for thousands of officers nationwide.
