Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was ceremonially crowned by leaders from the Luo Nairobi County Division in a colourful cultural event that supporters described as a symbolic endorsement of his leadership and political future.

The ceremony, attended by community elders, opinion leaders and supporters, featured traditional regalia and cultural rites, with speakers praising Babu Owino’s leadership, youth empowerment efforts and development agenda.

Organizers said the crowning was intended to recognize his contribution to the community and encourage him to continue serving the people. The event has also intensified speculation over the Nairobi gubernatorial race, with many interpreting the ceremony as a strong show of confidence in his potential bid for the city’s top seat.

While the ceremony carries cultural and symbolic significance, the office of Nairobi Governor is filled through elections conducted under Kenya’s Constitution and electoral laws.

The event has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with supporters hailing the recognition while others view it as an early political statement ahead of the 2027 General Election.
