Ruto Unveils Multi-Billion Makueni Development Agenda as He Calls for National Unity
President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering national unity while accelerating development across the country through major investments in infrastructure, housing, healthcare, water, and agriculture.
Speaking after hosting a delegation of grassroots leaders from Makueni County led by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto said the government is bringing together leaders and citizens from across the political divide to build a united nation focused on transformation and shared prosperity.
The President announced that the government is investing KSh15 billion in Makueni County for affordable housing projects, the construction of 11 modern markets, and hostels for university and college students to improve livelihoods and create employment opportunities.
He further revealed that KSh2.7 billion has been allocated for roads development in the current financial year. Ongoing projects include the Emali–Matiliku and Ukia–Kyuasini–Kyaambeke roads, while construction of the Machinery–Kyumani and Wote–Kako roads is set to begin shortly.
To address persistent water shortages and boost agricultural production across the Ukambani region, President Ruto said the government has secured KSh10.6 billion to complete the long-awaited Thwake Dam along the Kitui–Makueni border.
On healthcare, the President noted that the Social Health Authority (SHA) has already paid KSh2 billion to hospitals in Makueni County, enhancing access to quality and affordable medical services for residents.
President Ruto emphasized that the government’s development agenda is inclusive and aimed at ensuring every region benefits from national progress, regardless of political affiliation.
“We are bringing together leaders and citizens from across the political divide to unite the country and accelerate our country’s transformation,” President Ruto said.
